Being Frugal
Having 4 daughters and a husband who is on disability, I have had to learn to cut cost on many things. We live on a very tight budget.
Here are a few things that I do to help save money.
-
Use competitor ads when grocery shopping. My local store will charge you the cheap can save quite a bit using this method.
-
Coupons. There are several on-line sites where you can print coupons from your own computer.
-
White distilled vinegar is a necessary staple in our home. I use it to clean the kitchen, bathroom, in the laundry and many other places. Straight vinegar is very effective in killing 99% of bacteria, 82% of mold, and 80% of germs (viruses). Here are a few thinks for uses of vinegar and homemade recipes for cleaning. www.care2.com, www.easy-green-living.org, www.thriftyfun.com, www.stretcher.com .

Do not go grocery shopping when you're hungry. You will probably end up buying and spending more.
-
I almost always buy generic unless I find a good deal on name brand items. My family cannot tell the difference.
-
I am lucky that we have been able to get clothes that are no longer needed from friends and family. Since I have 4 daughters, I always pass clothes down to each as they are outgrown.
-
When I do have to clothes shop, it is usually at resale stores, Goodwill or the clearance racks at Walmart, Target, ect.
- I cannot see the point of spending $50 on a shirt. It seems silly when they will outgrow it within a few months. My 4th daughter (3 years old) will be wearing clothes that were my oldest daughters (11 years old) when she was little. They have been passed down through all my children and some even to my niece. My daughters love getting "new" clothes. They are not brand new, but they are new (different) to them.
